Sveti Lovreč is located in the Vrsar and Poreč hinterland. The town was named after the tiny church St. Nikole and is one of Istria's best-preserved medieval fortified towns. Lawrence was erected in the 8th century on the town graveyard outside of town. In the 11th century, a Romanesque bell tower was built next to the church.
